U. S. HOUSING STARTS (000)

HOUSING STARTS should continue to increase in 2013 and grow to 2,000 starts per year within a few years. They have been unusually low over the past few years to absorb the housing starts above the traditional average of 1.5 million per year. Housing starts were unusually high due to the Dot-Com bubble (1997-2001) and the sub-prime mortgages (2001-2006).
